Forestry Department
Upper Nicola’s forestry department handles all referrals from outside organizations working within the territory. Once a referral is received, the department reviews the referral to see if there is any cultural significance to the area the organization is interested in, and will then reply to the referral.
Preliminary Field Reconnaissance (PFR) will be undertaken to determine if there are cultural concerns for that area. If there are moderate to high concerns, such as a lithic or arrowhead being found, then the organization will have the option to proceed with an archaeological impact assessment (AIA).
