The kwU stemtImA/ have been working as a group since 2017. In our work over the last seven years, we have often met as stemtimA? to discuss what we want to see for our future. In 2024/25, we are travelling to various centres to engage with our community members, and we are engaging with our children/youth to seek what they want to see for their future.
We have accessed Year 1 of Capacity-building funding for an Act respecting First Nations, Inuit, and Metis children, youth, and families. We intend to hire a Contractor/ Consultant to assist us complete our work plan for year 1, that is shared in Appendix B. We then want to evaluate what we need to do, to prepare ourselves to complete law, and then serve notice to the Federal and Provincial Governments that we are prepared to negotiate a coordination agreement to implement our law.
We would like to have Contractor/ Consultant work with us, for a multi-year period, to complete work needed to complete law. We invite individual(s), Companies, Institutions to come forward and share their interest and intention to assist the kwU stemtImA/ to meet our goal. We would like to engage individual, Company, Institution to begin working with us in November 2024.
